FAQ

Do you offer free consultations? Yes, I do! I usually prefer to do my correspondence virtually so that I can reference your needs as I draw. But if you have a complex or large custom piece, sometimes seeing it in person and discussing our plans is the best way to get started. All of my consultations require scheduling, so reach out to me.

How much will my tattoo cost? My pricing includes a $40-80 deposit and $150/hr. I work quickly and only adjust my hourly rate in very specific circumstances, such as exploring techniques that I don't specialize in. Free touch-ups are included in my pricing as long as they are not needed as the result of injury, outside infection, or sun damage.

Will you tattoo color on BIPOC skin? Yes! I love working with darker skin tones and am working toward getting a photography set up that better represents my BIPOC clients. My current photography method does not showcase how beautiful line work and color look on darker skin, but I'm really hoping to expand that part of my portfolio. Please reach out and I'll happily find a color palette and design that looks beautiful on you!

When will I see my design? I work on designs as I am able, which often means I get it done the day before our appointment. If you request, I can send updates as I draw to make sure that we are on the same page. However, my standard policy is to not show the client their design until the moment of. I love to see your reaction in person!

Do you have your BBP certification? Yes, I have my Bloodborne Pathogen certification through the National Health & Safety Association. I renew this annually to keep myself up to speed on my sanitary handling and keep myself and my clients safe.

Can I change my design on the day of my appointment? Sure, within reason. If you want major design elements changed and we have a tight schedule, I may ask to reschedule your appointment. However, I am always willing to change your design around. I will not get my feelings hurt! This is your body and, at the end of the day, I want you to be in LOVE with your tattoo.

Can you do cover-up tattoos? Yes, but this is on a case-by-case basis. I am not a specialist in cover-ups, so I will happily look at your current tattoo and give you my best guess as to whether or not it is something I could cover up to any satisfaction. More often than not, if the tattoo is dark or more than a few inches across, I will recommend you get it lightened with laser treatments or covered by another artist who specializes in cover-ups.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment? Eat, drink water, and keep your skin hydrated, exfoliated and out of the sun prior to your appointment. The better shape your skin is in, the better your tattoo will heal. Please feel free to check out my Aftercare section for more details on pre-tattoo care as well!

Can you cover my scar tissue, birthmarks, or moles? I love doing scar tissue cover-ups. One of the reasons I decided to enter the world of tattoo was to specialize in this area. And while I do not consider myself a specialist yet, it is still something I feel really passionate about. I truly love making people feel better about their bodies by creating custom artwork for them, so self-harm scars, gender-affirmation/general surgery scars, stretch marks, and even lifelong birthmarks that make you feel uncomfortable, let's tackle that together! However, please remember that tattoos are not magic. There may be tissue that absorbs the ink differently and requires touch-ups or multiple sessions to cover. A note on moles: generally, tattoo artists are hesitant to cover moles that could become problematic later on. Frequently I will work my design around them so that they can be monitored by your dermatologist.

Can I use numbing cream? Yes! While there are plenty of tattoo artists who choose not to allow numbing cream, I really am okay with it. I prefer for you to use the Tattoo Numbing Cream from Painless Tattoo, as I have seen the fewest reactions and longest lasting results with this product. I also have their topical agent for mid-tattoo numbing. If you choose to buy your own numbing cream: please use my recommended brand or let me know what brand you are using. Clean the area well and numb for at least 60 minutes prior to your appointment and wrap tightly with saran wrap for the duration. If you want to use my numbing cream, I do often have tubes on hand. I charge $20 for a tube and it still will take an hour for you to become fully numb. I do not charge my hourly rate for that time, but let me know beforehand if you want numbing cream so that I can allow time clearance.
